Ball x Pit dominated. It’s these kinds of results that make you feel bad for actively deciding not to play a game. Clearly, everyone is the mood for arcade-style action fixed up with a heavy dollop of run-to-run progression. And now this Breakout-like — the latest hit to creep out of Devolver’s stable — is really capturing that excitement.
Pokémon Legends Z-A was surprising at No. 2. The game raced to 5.8 million copies sold, according to The Pokémon Company International. And everyone seems to be enjoying it. So how can something so popular end up at No. 2? Well, I bet a lot of Z-A players are also checking out Ball X Pit.
Then you have a murder’s row of killer games through the meaty part of the chart. Ghost of Yōtei is emblematic of PlayStation prestige gaming, and when a game like that delivers, the millions of people who spent $500 on a PS5 show up for it. Hades II, Battlefield 6, Absolum, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Silent Hill f would make excellent fodder for a top-10 games of the year list, but these are just some of the games that have come out in the last two months.
