Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am honored to be your host as we look back at the site-related news and best community creations from the previous week!
This biggest news this week comes from a recent Giant Bomb Townhall on the Giant Bomb Discord. After a hiatus, the Giant Bombathon is back! That’s right, the Giant Bomb staff are planning to come together in the same room with a smattering of guests for your entertainment! This will happen in about a month and be a 24 hour stream.
What’s the impetus for a new Bombathon? Well, the staff have thought that the time was ripe for a genuine effort to get people signed up for Premium or an overall fundraiser for the site’s future. If you want to help, spread the word and maybe even ask friends that you know that enjoy games or gaming to make an account on the site so you can gift them a premium subscription. For those of you with maxed out Premium subs, there’s always the Ko-Fi page that allows you to go above and beyond the call of duty while helping to insure the future of the site.
When it comes to the Bombcast on October 23rd, some tech issues caused that recording to go private thanks to Jan’s power going out mid-podcast. The episode had to be edited to get to it to be a complete singular episode and that made publishing it on various platforms harder and slower than normal. The episode should be up now, but please be understanding if you notice any audio or video issues during it.
Last weekend marked the start of former Giant Bomb staffer Drew Scanlon’s charity effort to raise money towards the National MS Society. They recently streamed on Twitch with Vinny Caravella and have already raised OVER $64,000 towards their cause! If you missed their charity stream, here’s a link to the VOD.
